Eddie Minnis Song Book 1 Art Contest: Official Rules

1. Eligibility The competition is open to all students currently enrolled in schools throughout The Bahamas.

Entries will be judged in three distinct categories: • Primary School • Junior High School • Senior High School

2. Theme & Subject Matter

• The Prompt: Participants must create an original drawing or painting featuring the iconic characters Buffet and Naughty Johnny.

• Originality: While the characters are based on Eddie Minnis’s "Pot Luck" series, the composition and style must be the student’s own original work. No tracing or direct copying of existing "Pot Luck" strips is permitted.

3. Medium & Style

• Any Medium: Participants are encouraged to be creative! You may use any physical or digital medium, including: o Traditional: Pencil, charcoal, ink, crayons, markers, watercolors, acrylics, or oils. o Mixed Media: Collages or combinations of different materials. o Digital: Digital painting or vector art.

• Size: Physical entries should be no smaller than 8.5" x 11" and no larger than 18" x 24".

4. Submission Guidelines

• Information Required: Every entry must clearly state the student’s Full Name, Age, School, and Grade Level.

• Format: Physical entries can be dropped off at [Insert Collection Point, e.g., National Art Gallery or Local District Office]. o Digital entries or high-resolution photos of physical work must be uploaded via the "Submit My Art" button on the official website.

• Deadline: All entries must be received by 31st March, 2026.

5. Judging Criteria Entries will be evaluated by a panel of artists based on: 1. Creativity: A unique interpretation of the characters.

2. Technique: Skillful use of the chosen medium.

3. Spirit: How well the artwork captures the "Bahamian vibe" synonymous with Eddie Minnis’s work.

6. Prizes & Recognition

• Category Winners: One winner from each category (Primary, Junior, Senior) will receive an Official Plaque and an autographed copy of Eddie Minnis Songbook 1.

• Grand Prize: Winners may have their artwork displayed at the official Book Launch event.

7. Terms & Conditions

• By entering, participants grant the organizers permission to display or share the artwork for promotional purposes related to the Eddie Minnis Songbook 1.

• The judges' decision is final.
